2 Day Enduro Results

Andy Cannell - Clubman winner
Day 1
The day started with 20 second penalty for David Knight, Juan Knight and Daniel McCanney for not attending scrutineering on Friday night.
First bikes left St Johns at 9.30am on Saturday heading off to Tholt e Will via Lhergy Colvine, Spooyt Vane, Ballacob green lanes. Followed by a thankfully dry climb through Ballaugh plantation. Before checking in and completing a fast test around Tholt e Will well set out by Andy Walton. The 65 mile lap then headed south after refuelling in St Johns and on to the tight check between South Barrule, Corlea and Cringle where a river crossing, deep hole, bog, another river crossing caused blockages and anyone staying on time would be very pleased with their performance.
Al Heginbotham created the second special test of the lap at the Ballacricket motocross track on land owned by longtime club supporter Johnny Massen in Ronague. With large jumps and berms this type of terrain was a welcome releif for most after the gruelling battle in Cringle created by club sadists Gary Cawtherly and Nige Beaumont. Ballacricket did claim one victim when club regular Matt Garside came to grief with an injured shoulder and put himself out of the event. The lap finished with a run home via Glen Rushen plantation, pipeline and Arresey.
Lap2 was a repeat of the above but with worsening weather conditions and thick mist fog on high ground. The South Barrule / Cringle tight check taking lumps of time off people, with competitors stuck in bogs and rivers, finishing off with a tiring battle through Glen Rushen with 3 stoppers in quick succession and help needed from fellow competitors as the ruts deepended to foot rest hieght.
Day 2 was similar but in reverse with Arassey and Eairystane plantations providing a warm up before the Ballacricket MX track which had started to show signs of use with ruts developing in the tight corners. The tight check in Cringle, Corlea and South Barrule was a lot slacker and run in the opposite direction with a large amount cut out to ease the weary bikes and bodies.
One lap of the full course was all Tholty via St Lukes and 1 lap each class followed by a check and return to St Johns via some going in Ballaugh and up Spooyt Vane which caused a few problems for some of the more tired riders but marshalls were on hand to help.
Sportsman class finished their day off at this point with 1 lap of the course and Clubman and Expert classes went off for a 2nd run through the southern loop and Ballacricket.

Isle of Man 2 Day Enduro 2009 Results
| Starting from St Johns Old Railway car park machinery was scrutineered and stored in parc ferme overnight ready for the saturday morning start. All competitors were allowed 10mins spanner time each day so underlining the need for good bike preparation prior to the event.
With 58 entries including 18 visiting competitors mainly entering the very healthy Clubman class including Tamsin Jones. Tamsin is aiming to finish the 2010 Dakar and has been riding extreme events including the Red Bull Romaniacs hard enduro so hopefully she found the Isle of Man 2 Day Enduro tough enough! |
